How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Sexuality- The gay males challenge the conventional 'couple' who are male and female. This similarly links to Gauntletts idea that the relationship between the mass media and identity argues that the mass media today challenge the traditional definitions of gender; is is represented in our film as their dialect challenges the idea of toughness and emotional reticence as they contradict this idea by being more involved in 'girl talk'.  Age- The teenagers in the film opening are drinking and smoking which may appeal to our target audience. The idea of drinking and smoking reinforces Stuart Halls' idea that the negative representation of young people is deliberate and justifies social control. Which in this case the drinking and smoking was deliberate, as these objects connote danger.  Gender- All characters are represented equally as the camera shots and angles do not show one character being more dominant. However other formats such as pictures and mindmaps are included.
