Looking back at my preliminary task, I believe that I understand the codes and conventions of the sub-genre slasher, than I did before. Our prelim task had no relevance in the connection of a slasher film, it was done simply to understand the rules embedded. Our prelim task is a continuity edit, therefore it doesn't look poorly lighted, however the lighting does vary. In our preliminary task it is clear that we did not take into consideration everything in the scene. However the context of the whole teacher, pupil interaction is clear through the dialect and costumes. Since creating the preliminary task, my knowledge of how to create a successful mise en scene has grown, especially when analyzing and researching the codes and conventions of a slasher film.
