Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt from the progression from it to the full product?

Looking back at my preliminary task, I believe that I understand the codes and conventions of the sub-genre slasher, than I did before. Our prelim task had no relevance in the connection of a slasher film, it was done simply to understand the rules embedded. Our prelim task is a continuity edit, therefore it doesn't look poorly lighted, however the lighting does vary.
In our preliminary task it is clear that we did not take into consideration everything in the scene. However the context of the whole teacher, pupil interaction is clear through the dialect and costumes. Since creating the preliminary task, my knowledge of how to create a successful mise en scene has grown, especially when analyzing and researching the codes and conventions of a slasher film.
I have learnt that with planning, you can ensure you will gain a continuous style throughout; this is reflected in creating a shooting schedule so that the actors and us as a group would be at the location when needed and through the daytime hours that provided us with a reasonable sum of light. Although it was filmed in the woods you can see how the lighting changed from them 'arriving' where the lighting is very much light, and then differentiates and deepens through to when Ellie wonders of as this connotes danger, so I do believe that our lighting does reflect the conventions of a slasher film well, and does predict what is going to happen next.
In our film opening it is reflected that may different shots were used, the stereotypical conventional characters were used: and this was reflected through their costumes. This was due to a lot of research and planning, consolidation and consideration in what to include in our film opening to make is seem authentic. I believe that in some aspects the clothing, dialect, and various different shots were used in the preliminary task but not much though was put into it compared to the final product.

Looking back from our preliminary task to our final product, it is clear that we have developed our knowledge on camera shots. I believe that I was able to do this as I gathered enough information and research for me to understand what the task was asking me to do. In our prelim task there are only basic camera shots, little dialogue and everything in the frame wasn't really taken into consideration, however in our final product all the aspects in the frame such as costume and props were taken into account, and the script was developed from our research in order for it to reflect a real media platform product.
