Above is a mind map of  initial thoughts about slasher films which is a sub-genre of a horror film. I have initially chosen to base my opening on a horror, this is due to the idea of an opening sequence being a lot less action packed and more of a cliff hanger to what is going to happen later on in the film. I believe that it will be easier to make a film opening for a horror as opposed to an action film, as there are not as many complex conventions to be followed compared to those in action films; (girls, guns, cars and explosions).
