Introduction to characters; a mid shot is used to establish 5 girls drinking in a bedroom. A close up onto one of the blonde girls is used to possibly connote that she is a potential victim. A mid shot is used of the laptop showing a male and female getting intimate, which could be a sign of the plot that could possibly be 'stalking'.
Stock settings; A stock setting could be the bedroom as this is established as soon as the film opening begins.
Stock characters; The stock characters are the 5 girls who are firstly presented on screen in the establishing shot, also the two characters being viewed on the laptop by the sorority sisters are also the stock character; this is due to the connections between all of the 7 characters.
Themes; Possible themes for this film could be; death as the girl who is being viewed on the laptop is sick , due to the girls stating that they gave the male something to put in her drink, this could also link to the theme of pranks, also the theme of friendship is present as the establishing shot of the 5 sorority girls giving each other shout outs about what they like most about each other and doing a chant that states 'sorority'.
Narrative; The narrative of the opening of this film is a group of sorority sisters trying to cover up the death of their house-sister after a prank that has gone wrong, only to be stalked by a serial killer.

Setting up the plot;
Pace and rhythm/editing/mise en scene/camera shots; A close up of a chain with the girl in the car could connote that it is a weapon for the villain to use. A long shot of the lake with the car in the distance is used to show a secluded location and that the villain could possibly be nearby. A long mid shot is used of the teens getting out of the car is used to perhaps show the targets from the villains point of view, this could also be shown through the next camera shot which is a mid shot of the teenagers.The lighting on the blonde teen against the rest of the darkness, could connote that she is the victim and is in nearby danger. A mid shot of the guy with a weapon above the female on the ground is used to show death, and that he is going to kill her as he doesn't realise she is still alive. The opening of this film sequence is a continuity edit as it is representing verisimilitude of teenagers playing pranks however this time it was taken too far.
Mood and tone (non diegetic music); The sound of a non diegetic car horn is used while the girls are talking which could be the villain, which could be unexpected.
