Character Profiles

Leah- plays the role of the hysterical/pandora character. This is due to her having a very chilled and laid back mannerism. Her dialect within the opening shows that she doesn't want to provoke any trouble, so in some sense is the peace maker. I believe that her character does not really fit into a category, however in a horror film the 'pandora' character is often portrayed as innocent which is how Leah comes across in our film opening, but this could be misleading and when the film continues there true side could be shown.

Chloe- plays the rebellious character along with Ellie. A rebellious teen who is drinking, which connotes danger and conventionally gives the killer a victim. Her mannerism fits well with the character as she establishes her independence and is often a risk-taker; this is seen in the opening as only her and Ellie are drinking, this shows that the other characters respect authority and does not portray them as rebellious teens.

Toby- plays the jock character. He was casted as this character as he is tall, and looks as though he could fit well into the convemtioal character. His dialogue fits the the conventional idea of a jock as he is slightly cocky and his tone of voice such as 'it's nothing' or 'don't be stupid', shows that he doesn't really care about what goes on. He has intellectual growth which fits in with the 'jock' character as they are known for their sporting achievements.

Emily- plays the role of the final girl. Stereotypically they are innocent such as being a virgin and the only way to avoid death from the killer is not to drink, smoke, take drugs or have sex; this gives a moral behind it in order to 'educate' the audience.

Ellie- plays the rebel/wanderer. This is due to her drinking and smoking which connotes danger and conventionally gives the villain a victim. She is quite impulsive, so her mannerism fits well to the character. She is also the wanderer as she decides to go and explore the surrundings whilst smoking a cigarette which connotes that there is going to be danger nearby.

Jonty- plays the role of the nerd. Jonty is tall and has very posh dialect which is why we believed that he would be a good cast for this role, although his lines within the opening sequence shows counteraction. e.g. 'err slut'.
